In 2016, Doug began working with industry leaders to create a round to his custom specifications that could work for shooters in competition or defense training. Talks with key figures in ammunition manufacturing led to the development of the KOENIG Shooting Sports brand to service a new line of products fit for the modern shooter. DK focused on finding the optimal configuration of projectile and load through extensive research and field-testing. Ultimately the 110-grain jacketed hollow point was selected and became the key component to creating the first KOENIG round.
The lighter 110-grain bullet is loaded specifically to provide better balance and speed for competition shooters and defense. Though the variance in the mass and weight of the projectile compared to similar rounds may seem negligible, it is a difference you can feel. Debuting in 9mm JHP and .38 Super JHP, the KOENIG Competition and Defense lines are available now through select dealers.
